Learn how to make Apple Crisp!
Ingredients:
4 to 6 apples (a mixed variety is preferable)
1 lemon
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional
3 tablespoons sugar
75gm butter (cut into tiny cubes)
¾ cup brown sugar
½ cup flour
½ cup old fashioned rolled oats
½ teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
Implements:
1 mixing bowl
1 casserole dish/pie dish
Instructions:
Peel, core and cut the apples into bite sized pieces or thin slices. Place into casserole dish or any deep, oven-proof plate. Toss with cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar and juice from the lemon.
In a separate bowl, mix the cut butter with brown sugar, flour, rolled oats, salt and cinnamon powder. Use fingertips (coolest part of hand) to rub butter in until mixture resembles course crumbs. Sprinkle over the apples.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celcius for 35-45 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling. The apples should be tender when pierced with a knife or fork. Remove from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with ice-cream.
